The marching band of the Washington Commanders will return to the field after a two-year absence, the team announced Friday.
The team moved to Washington in 1937 and the marching band became famous for playing its fight song after touchdown. In the Washington area, they became commonplace.
The band didn't have a presence over the past two seasons because of the Pandemic and then because the program was paused while the team changed its name and logo.
Commanders president Jason Wright told ESPN last year that they always intended for the band to come back.
The team will change the lyrics to their fight song. The previous fight song underwent several revisions over the years.
The 60-member all-volunteer band will have new uniforms.
Washington had a coed dance team last season.
The team unveiled new uniforms and a crest.
