Users will be able to use the Google Assistant to come up with new passwords after they have been hacked. With a few taps, the virtual assistant can set up a new password in less than a minute after you hear about the issue. The feature was announced last year but has begun to be seen on some phones.

The notifications for breached passwords are nothing new. The process for setting up a new one was a little too complicated. It used to be that the device owner would have to navigate to the website on their own to reset the password. The new Assistant update streamlines that process by bringing the user directly to the password settings of the site with the breached password.

Users are given the option to allow Google to make a password for them and then add it to their personal password keyring. This type of feature has been around for a while, but its implementation in conjunction with the updated password feature makes the process simpler than ever.

It seems like it will take a while for the new update to be universally adopted. Because each individual website handles password resets differently, they need to talk to Google about how to automate their practices. Only a few websites are compatible with the feature, but as it becomes available to more users, more sites will be added.

The feature will only work in the Chrome web browser app. While the browser is popular, it isn't the only option for users of the operating system, so those who want to use the password feature will need to switch over to Chrome or use the previous methods.

If you're curious about whether your phone has the update, you can go to the password settings on chrome. The box with the arrow on some websites will be replaced by the bubbles of the Google Assistant. The site that supports the feature is communicated by the bubbles.
