It looks hard to wash your face when you use keep floating away. You can still watch as the European Space Agency's Matthias Maurer conquers the challenge of a cozy nighttime routine aboard the International Space Station.
The 4-minute clip was posted on its official YouTube channel this week, showing Maurer brushing his teeth, squeezing water for a face wash onto a cloth, and chasing it through the microgravity environment. A cable at the top of the small room holds an anchor so he doesn't float off into space.
After finishing his self care routine, Maurer begins the journey to his bunk, using his hands to climb through a dark space station, with eerily dark screens and flashing control panel lights everywhere.
Life on the International Space Station hasn't been great recently. Russian astronauts remain aboard the vessel while their country wages war on Ukraine and the head of the agency is rumored to have hopes of leaving. Some NASA astronauts have said that their countrymen sound a little crazy.
It's nice to enjoy a quiet moment every once in a while, and reflect on why we started exploring the last frontier in the first place.
