The Los Angeles Lakers are looking for a new head coach.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, Los Angeles has requested an interview with Toronto Raptors assistant coach Adrian Griffin. He is one of two known candidates for the opening.

When Nick Nurse was first hired in Toronto, he brought with him an assistant coach in the form of Griffin, who has been with the Raptors for the last four seasons. They helped lead the franchise to its first championship by defeating the Golden State Warriors.

Prior to his time in Toronto, he was an assistant coach with the Milwaukee Brewers, Chicago Bulls, and Oklahoma City Thunder. He played for five different teams in the NBA.

Los Angeles fired head coach Frank Vogel after a disappointing finish. The team was saddled with injuries and chemistry issues, and it was led by a man who had led the team to a championship in his first year.

Lakers stars Anthony Davis and LeBron James missed a lot of time due to various ailments. The point guard who was acquired in a blockbuster trade looked out of place as he failed to produce at the rate he has been known for throughout his career.

Los Angeles is still expecting to be a title contender next year despite the struggles of this past season. The franchise won't rush the process of finding the right person to lead the team.

The Lakers management will take a patient approach to the coaching search, according to Charania.
