It is extremely rare for an actor to go from being a child star to having a successful career as an adult performer. It is unusual for a single actor to star in two hit series that went on to become pop culture phenomena. Neil Patrick Harris did both in Doogie Howser, M.D. and How I Met Your Mother. Harris had a large role in A Series of Unfortunate Events, but he wasn't the lead character. Harris is going to headline a new comedy series on the internet this summer.

Uncoupled will allow Harris to portray an openly gay man. Michael Harris thought he had found a love that would last a lifetime. That isn't in the cards for Michael. The first trailer for Uncoupled shows a few happy moments between Michael and his husband before their relationship was destroyed. When Michael is ready to give up on love, a shared glance with another man gives him hope.

The synopsis for the series is straight from the internet.

Michael thought his life was perfect until his husband walked out the door after 17 years. Michael has to confront two nightmares, the first being that he lost his soulmate and the second being that he found himself a single gay man in New York City.
