On February 24, the day of the war, the Russians had captured the ships in the Black Sea near Snake Island.

The commander-in-chief of the armed forces of Ukraine wrote on social media that two Russian Raptor boats were destroyed at daybreak.

The Bayraktar is doing its job, he said, referring to the Turkish vehicle that helped sink the Russian craft. Zaluzhnyi posted a 17-second video that shows the moment the drones hit the Russian raptors.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Russia did not comment on the claim that it destroyed three Bayraktar drones.

A crew of three and space to ferry up to 20 troops is provided by the Raptor-class boats.

Snake Island is strategically important because it sits at the edge of the Black Sea. A report last year from the Atlantic Council called Snake Island the key to Ukraine's maritime territorial claims in the Black Sea.

Military defending Snake Island refused to surrender to Russian forces on February 24 when the Russian flagship cruiser Moskva approached, becoming a legendary symbol of resistance for Ukraine.

The Russian Navy has mounting toll on its patrol boats. The Pentagon confirmed that the Moskva sank after being hit with a Neptune anti-sink missile.
