Volkswagen’s ID 4 EV.

According to a report from the Financial Times, the CEO of Volkswagen said that the company sold out of electric vehicles in Europe and the United States for the year. This means that anyone hoping to get an EV from VW, Audi, or any of the group's other brands may have to wait until 2023, as the company tries to navigate the chip shortage and production issues from COVID shutdowns in China.

VW expects its orders to keep growing, according to the report. It currently has a lot of people waiting to get an EV and expects to add more throughout the year. Supply chain issues will make filling those difficult. A lack of chips has led to a halt or slow down in production. Some people have taken out features from their vehicles to get them off the assembly line. It can be difficult to make batteries for electric cars in the best of times.
