  • Japanese driver Mitsunori Takaboshi was involved in a terrible wreck during a SuperGT race.

  • Takaboshi was in a train of cars that were caught off guard.

  • Takaboshi walked away without any broken bones after driving into the wall.

The Super GT Fuji crash in Japan shows how much safer race cars are than they were in the past.

Japanese driver Mitsunori Takaboshi was the second of three cars battling for the lead on the front stretch when all three appeared to be caught off guard by a slower driver.

Takaboshi did not see the other driver until it was too late. He tried to hit the brakes but lost control of his car and drove into the wall. His car was destroyed in the wreck.

According to the broadcast, Takaboshi got out of the car under his own power and did not suffer any broken bones. He was taken to a hospital for further evaluation.

He was in the hospital. He was conscious and safe according to a translation of the caption.
