Madison Bumgarner was ejected from the game against the Miami Marlins after an altercation during a check for foreign substances.
Bumgarner was tossed by first base umpire Dan Bellino in the bottom of the first after he looked at his throwing hand.
Bellino looked at Bumgarner's hand longer than the process generally takes and appeared to stare at the left-handed pitcher. Bellino ejected the four-time All-Star after Bumgarner said something to him.
Bumgarner and Bellino were separated by Torey Lovullo and Jose Herrera.
Bumgarner appeared to disagree with a call by plate umpire Ryan Wills on a close pitch. The left-handed pitcher was replaced by the right-handed pitcher.
Bumgarner is 1-2 with a 1.50 ERA in six starts this season.
