Anthony Gordon and Joel Matip tangle in the box at Anfield
Frank Lampard insisted Joel Matip's challenge on Anthony Gordon should have resulted in a penalty at Anfield

The Football Association charged Frank Lampard for his post-match comments after the 2-0 defeat at the hands of the Reds.

Stuart Attwell did not penalize Anthony Gordon for his challenge.

If the challenge had been made on the player, a penalty would have been given.

It is alleged that his comments imply bias and/or attack the integrity of the match referee.

He has until Monday to respond to the charge.

With a game in hand on their rivals,Everton are two points from safety.

The challenge on Gordon was not reviewed by the Professional Game Match Officials after the derby.

Gordon went over in the area after a challenge by Matip.

Andy Robertson scored the opener eight minutes after the incident.

It was a penalty, and you don't get them at Anfield.

If that was at the end of the game, I think the referee gives that. It was a foul on Anthony.
