Baker joined an exclusive club by helping lead his team to a victory.

Baker is the 12th manager in MLB history to win 2,000 games. Bruce Bochy, who is not yet eligible to be in the Hall of Fame, is the only manager on the list who is in the Hall of Fame.

He was the first black manager to hit the milestone.

The 2,000th win was a little bit of everything, with Yordan Alvarez and Jose Altuve providing the offense with home runs and the pitching staff shutting down Seattle's bats.

The starter allowed just two hits in 5.1 frames, while four other pitchers combined to close the door for the rest of the frame.

Houston is 1.5 games behind the Los Angeles Angels in the American League West.

It's just a matter of time before Baker catches Bochy, who is 11th on the list with 2,003 victories. Tony La Russa is in second place on the all-time list with 2,833 victories, and the Chicago White Socks manager earned his 2,833rd win Tuesday with a victory over the Chicago Cubs.

Baker has a Hall of Fame caliber resume that includes three Manager of the Year awards and two World Series appearances. He has managed the San Francisco Giants, Cubs, Cincinnati Reds, Washington Nationals and Astros during his career and has a 2,000-1745 record.

He led the Astros to the World Series in 2021, but fell short of the title in 2002.

A World Series crown is the only thing missing in his career, and he will look to change that this season with some history already in his back pocket.
