The impact of Luis Diaz led to a second-half comeback by the Reds. 1:45.

The pursuit of the Quadruple is being pursued byLiverpool. They can now prepare for a 10th European final later this month, against either Manchester City or Real Madrid in Paris, but it required another display of the club's incredible resilience in European competition on Tuesday to seal a 3-2 win against Villarreal.

Boulaye Dia and Francis Coquelin scored for the Spanish side in the first half to give them a 2-0 lead which they would not relinquish. The three touches in the box before the half was the lowest of the season.

Had Danny Makkelie awarded the home side a penalty four minutes before Coquelin's headed goal, they would have been down by three at halftime.

The game was turned in the Reds' favor when they replaced Diogo Jota with Luis Diaz at the break.

The first-half pace of the game was disrupted by the running of Diaz. By the time Geronimo Rulli gave the Reds a helping hand with a series of costly errors, it was obvious that they would reach a third European final in five seasons.

The return in the second-half was really special, according to the manager. We needed to mix it up a bit. I wanted the players to be mentality monsters from the first minute, but they took all the risks in the first half and we had a football problem to solve.

We have reached a final, but three of the competitions are not finished. The finals show up in our schedule and we need to be prepared, but it will be difficult.

The record books will show that the Reds made it to Paris with a 5-2 aggregate victory, but it was not certain at half time in the small stadium.

TheMiracle of Istanbul was completed when they overcame a three-goal deficit against AC Milan to win the 2005 European Championship, and they also overcame a 2-0 first-leg deficit against Barcelona in the semifinals.

This victory and performance will enter the folklore of the club because they provided evidence of the qualities that are often overlooked because of the world-class quality of the team.

To achieve great things, all athletes or teams must overcome some kind of adversity along the way, and this was undoubtedly a test of the resolve and fighting spirit of the team.

The first half was bad for the Reds. Unai Emery sent his team out with a game plan to press and put pressure on their defence. In the middle of the park, Francis Coquelin and Etienne Capoue were outstanding, as well as Dani Parejo and Lo Celso.

In the back, Dia andGerard Moreno harassed Ibrahima Konate. Both Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah failed to do their defensive duties, which led to a profit for Villarreal. The first goal came from a lay-off by Capoue and the second came from Coquelin as the team believed they could hurt the Reds.

It was the most important halftime of the season, and he went on the front foot by introducing the new signing, who has been a sensation since his 50 million dollar signing from Porto in January.

After Fabinho shot through Rulli's legs on 62 minutes, they regained the overall lead in the tie.

Five minutes later, Diaz headed in an Alexander-Arnold cross to make it 2-2 on the night and 4-2 on aggregate, before Sadio Mane completed the scoring on 74 minutes after Rulli had raced out of his area and missed the ball badly.

The team's ability to click into higher gear and the manager's boldness were the reasons why the tie was turned around inside half an hour.

The beautiful game is here. Leagues, tournaments and teams can be watched.

Only the best teams can do that quickly and with such devastating effect. Real Madrid and Manchester City will meet in Madrid on Wednesday to decide who will play on May 28.

Real and City have both had fightbacks this season, but City have yet to be tested in such a way. The opposition will know that the mentality of the players and their coach is the same if it is the case.

That is the reason why this win was so important. It sent a message to the rest that if they are beaten, they can end up with four trophies this season.

No English team has ever won the Quadruple in the same season, but that is about to change.
