Marcus Smart will not play in the second game of the Celtics' Eastern Conference semifinal series against the Milwaukee Bucks because of a right quad contusion.

Smart hurt his quad in the first half of the game, but came back in the third quarter and made back-to-back shots.

Boston coach Ime Udoka said at his news conference that it was a little bit of both, swelling and pain.

Udoka expects Smart to be better by the time the Celtics take the floor again after three days off.

Udoka said that White will start in Smart's place.

I think he does a lot of things well. Udoka said it was hard to make up for what Marcus does for the team.

rick is another big guard that you don't lose a lot as far as size and defensive skills. He can score, run plays, and get guys the ball. He checks a lot of those boxes.

There is not a lot of drop off with Marcus in there other than the fact that he is tough.

When Smart left the game in the third quarter, he needed to hit the exercise bike before he could return. He played until Udoka took out his starters.

Smart had 10 points and six assists in 33 minutes.
