Marcus Smart, a guard for the Boston Celtics, will not play in Tuesday's Game 2 of the playoffs because of a right thigh contusion.
The Celtics were defeated by the Bucks in the first game of the series.
Smart missed time this season. He missed six games in January with a thigh contusion.
After playing in 12 games after returning, Smart suffered a ankle injury in Boston's 135-87 win over the Philadelphia 76ers. He returned to the lineup after sitting out one game.
The Celtics have been doing well since late January. They finished the regular season with a 28-7 record and secured the second seed in the Eastern Conference.
Smart is a vital piece of Boston's starting lineup. He finished fourth on the team in defensive win shares. In 71 regular-season starts, the 28-year-old averaged 12.1 points, 5.9 assists and 1.7 steals per game.
Celtics head coach Ime Udoka will lean more on White until Smart returns. The offense will continue to run through Jaylen Brown.
