The contract details for every draftee are laid out in the collective bargaining agreement.
Walker emerged as the favorite to land with Jacksonville by the time of the draft. It was the end of the rise for the Georgia edge-rusher.
Walker wasn't even a first-round pick in Bleacher Report's mock draft. He moved up to 14th after the conclusion of the NFL Scouting Combine and then to 3rd as April began.
If Walker had been a top-five pick instead of first, there wouldn't be a financial gulf.
It would've made a difference if the first round had ended in the late stages. He will get $12.9 million with a signing bonus.
It is not known if Walker has signed his first contract with the Jaguars.
