The Sky Cinema subscription for the UK cable provider will be included in the price of Paramount's streaming platform, which will launch in the UK and Ireland on June 22. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will be airing in the U.S. this Thursday, May 5, and the streamer's announcement teases a variety of shows that will be on the platform at launch.

Strange New Worlds will not be available to Star Trek fans in the UK and Ireland until seven episodes are broadcast elsewhere. If you don't want to have most of the show spoiled for you, it's a shame.

This isn't the first time that Paramount has asked international Trek fans to compromise as it begins its expansion of Paramount+ across the world in earnest. The fourth season of Discovery was pulled out of an international distribution deal days before its premiere, not just cutting off access to the new season, but all three prior seasons as well. The decision to force international fans to wait for the launch of Paramount+ was reversed after massive backlash from both Star Trek fans and Discovery creatives alike, leading to a piecemeal compromise where Discovery's fourth season was broadcast on the free streaming platform Pluto TV.

It's unlikely that the same thing will happen for Strange New Worlds in the UK and Ireland now that Paramount has a launch date. The US, Latin America, Australia, and Nordic countries that already have Paramount+ will have access to Strange New Worlds. The studio wants Star Trek fans to sit back and wait for the next movie.
