The joke that is Urban Meyer is close to being brought back by FOX. According to The Athletic's media reporter, Richard Deitsch, the rumors about the return of Meyer have turned into deep negotiations. The hire will be pilloried on social media.
This isn't surprising given that this is the network of Fox.
When Meyer left for the NFL, FOX swapped him out for former Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops to go along with Rob Stone, Reggie Bush, Matt Leinart, and Brady Quinn. Since the Big Ten and FOX have a partnership, the ability to have Woodson and Meyer discussing football on TV every Saturday in preparation for the Michigan/Ohio State game was a plus. A spot has opened up because of Meyer and Stoops leaving. This was always a good landing spot for Meyer since he is the poster boy for how white men fail up.
Every job has a single employee that people can't stand. Being an adult is dealing with people you don't like. Is it fair to question if the college football studio crew has the responsibility of keeping Urban Meyer off the air?
No. It wouldn't hurt if they didn't want Meyer around.
If Matt Leinart wasn't willing to show up to work if Meyer was hired, what would Reggie Bush do? What if Brady and Rob took to social media to voice their displeasure at having to work with a laughing stock of football?
The final decision would probably not be affected by these things. It would be nice to know that Meyer is disliked since that is what got him fired in Jacksonville.
The point of having Urban Meyer discussing things on TV as if he is an expert is because he has already shown us many times that he is not an expert.
