Spot, the most famous four-legged robot in the world, sometimes seems more like an entertainer than an industrial machine. Boston Dynamic wants to remind the world that this thing can work, too, in a new video.

The new Spot spot shows a quadrupedal bot carrying out a range of tasks in an industrial setting. Spot takes readings from gauges, uses a camera to take pictures of equipment, and creates work orders for human employees. It does a little dance as well.

Boston Dynamics is very good at making Spot seem cute

The ability to make a robot that has been tested for use with both the military and law enforcement seems cute and harmless. It is harmless. It's just how humans might use it.

The video is a way to show off a bunch of small but useful upgrades that Boston Dynamics is announcing for Spot: the robot's five stereo cameras now produce full-color imagery, its tablet controller has been upgraded to aSamsung unit with a larger screen, longer battery life, and the If you're interested in spec, you should know that the module is an Nvidia Jetson XNA with 512 CUDA cores, 48 Tensor cores, and 6 Arm CPUs.

Again, all of this is to remind you that Spot is not a toy. It is looking for work.

You can see a detailed rundown of the new features in the video.
