Varane was a member of Real Madrid when they lost to Ten Hag's Ajax in the last-16 of the European club competition.

He has good experience and is a good person to work with.

The first priority for Ten Hag will be to get more consistency out of the expensively assembled squad.

We can be more in control during games. We can play well for a while and then play bad for 10 or 15 minutes. He said that we lost a lot of points like this.

If we are consistent, we can improve a lot, so I think it is a collective work.

Since his arrival from the Real Madrid, Varane has been hampered by injury. He has played in only 28 games this season.

He said that he needs a full pre-season to be fit, but that next season will be better.
