One year after getting into the game, Facebook is getting out.

According to a note sent by Facebook to its partners, it will no longer allow users to add podcasts to its platform this week and will eliminate all of them on June 3.

The live audio and podcasts service was launched by Facebook in June 2021.

Facebook told its partners that it wouldn't alert users to the fact that it was shutting down the podcasts service, leaving them to decide how to inform their audience.

When contacted by Insider, Meta did not respond immediately.

A Meta spokesman said that they are constantly evaluating the features they offer so they can focus on the most meaningful experiences.

Facebook became a subsidiary of Meta in October of last year and is trying to stay relevant while its parent company focuses on the metaverse.

According to a report in April, Facebook was leaning more on other ideas, including metaverse events, and less on audio in its conversations with the producers of the podcasts.

In the last three months of 2021, Facebook lost users for the first time in its history, but last week it reported that it had started to gain users again in the first quarter of this year.
