Democratic lawmakers called for action on Monday night in the wake of a report that suggests the Supreme Court may have taken an initial vote to overturn abortion rights.

If the SCOTUS legislates from the bench and turns back the clock 50 years on abortion, then the Senate needs to pass my Women's Health Protection Act and eliminate the filibuster to get it done.

Justice Samuel Alito has drafted a draft majority opinion that would overturn two of the most important decisions of the high court.

Alito writes in a document labeled "Opinion of the Court" that the issue of abortion should be returned to the people.

House and Senate Democrats appear to be united around a renewed effort to codify the Supreme Court's precedence into law.

This effort is likely to be unsuccessful because the Senate requires 60 votes to pass legislation. Two Senate Republicans have expressed pro-abortion opinions. Collins has argued that the Women Protection Act goes too far.

Some progressive lawmakers made explicit calls for public outrage.

The chairwoman of the House Progressive Caucus called for people to take to the streets in protest of the Supreme Court decision.

The draft opinion made clear that same-sex marriage could soon be in jeopardy.

SCOTUS is not just coming for abortion - they are also coming for the right to privacy, which includes gay marriage.

Alito lists Obergefell v. Hodges, the landmark decision that legalized same-sex marriage, among a number of past decisions that granted rights despite claims to being deeply ingrained in history.

The opinion is not necessarily the final view of the court on the subject, according to a report.

Republican lawmakers are happy that the fight to end abortion may be closer to reality than ever before.

It will be the most important Supreme Court ruling in my lifetime if the Supreme Court overturns Wade. Austin Pfluger is a Republican from Texas.

Conservatives were horrified that a draft Supreme Court opinion could be leaked.

The next time you hear the far left preach about how they are fighting to preserve our Republic's institutions, remember how they leaked a Supreme Court opinion in an attempt to intimidate the justices on abortion.

Josh Hawley, a former Supreme Court clerk, called the action an "unprecedented breach of confidentiality, clearly meant to intimidate." He later begged the court to issue its opinion immediately.

Alito is a conservative on the court. If it is true that the court is ready to overturn abortion rights, then the victory is solely due to the three appointees of former President Donald Trump.

If Alito, Clarence Thomas, and the three Trump join together, Chief Justice John Roberts could not stop them.

The publication of the draft opinion is an extraordinary moment in the history of the court. In a town where Congress and the White House leak like sieves, the court is known for being a leak-proof institution.

The pending case was expected to be decided before the term ended. Mississippi has a law that effectively bans most abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy, a law designed to go after the heart of the abortion debate.
