According to a new report, Naomi Judd died by suicide.

Multiple sources confirmed to People magazine that the country legend took her own life.

There is an investigation by law enforcement and the coroner's office, according to a rep for Judd.

On Saturday, Wynonna and Ashly Judd posted a heartbreaking statement on social media about their mother's death at the age of 76.

Today we sisters experienced a tragedy. The disease of mental illness took the life of our beautiful mother. We are shattered. She was loved by her public as we loved her. We are in a new area.

On Monday, Public Information Officer Williamson told Us Weekly that there is an open investigation and that they are not releasing any reports. The death investigation is ongoing. The sheriff's department attended because there is no police jurisdiction in that area. We are waiting for information from the detectives.

The Judds scored 14 No. 1 hits during their nearly three-decade career, making them one of the most popular duos of the 1980s. The Judds' hits included "Love Can build a Bridge" in 1990, "Mama He" in 1984, and "Why Not Me" in 1984.

She battled with mental illness in her memoir, which was released before her death.

The book "River of Time: My Descent into Depression and How I Emerged with Hope" came out in 2016 from Hachette/Center Street.

Naomi continued to struggle with mental illness even after her recovery. She wrote that she had suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder, and that she felt like she had every reason to jump off a bridge to end her tortured existence.

The Judds were in the Country Music Hall of Fame just one day after Naomi died. The ceremony in Nashville, Tennessee was filled with tears, music and laughter as the country music stars mourned the loss of Naomi.

The two girls accepted their mother's Hall of Fame in tears, holding on to each other and reading a Bible verse.

"I apologize that she couldn't hang on until today, I'm so sorry," she said while crying. The sisters read from a book.

"Though my heart is broken, I will continue to sing," Wynonna said.
