Orbital Assembly has something to say about the future of travel, at least if you are in a hotel room with a view of the solar system.
The US-based company has revealed new information and concepts for its space hotel idea.
The Von Braun Station is a futuristic concept that was first created by the Gateway Foundation.
Orbital Assembly Corporation is a space construction company that cut links with Gateway.
Orbital Assembly wants to open two space stations with tourist accommodations, the first of which will be renamed to Voyager Station and will be able to accommodate 400 people.
Orbital Assembly wants to run a business park that will be home to offices as well as tourists.
Alatorre says that the appeal of the new concept Pioneer Station is that it's smaller scale makes it possible sooner.
It will allow us to have people experience space on a larger scale, faster.
Office spaces and research facilities can be rented on Pioneer Station.
Alatorre said that this is a win-win for Orbital Assembly, as a lot of its near-term goals are funding dependent.
Both stations are similar to a rotating wheel on the earth.
Alatorre explained the physics of the station in an interview with CNN Travel.
The station rotates, pushing the contents of the station out to the perimeter of the station, much in the way that you can spin a bucket of water.
There is no artificial gravity at the center of the station, but as you move down the outside of the station, the feeling of gravity increases.
Alatorre said that the physics haven't changed. He explained that Pioneer Station's gravity level would be different because it will be smaller. There will still be things like showers, the ability to eat and drink, and sitting down, but the spaces with less gravity will allow for more fun, space quirks.
