Martin Truex Jr. has a plan for how to win on Mondays.

Rain on Sundays.

The race at the Monster Mile was stopped after 78 laps because of rain, but Truex can win for the third time. Truex won his first NASCAR Cup win in 2007, then used another rainout to take the checkered flag in May of 2019.

It will be the fourth time in 104 races that it will run on a Monday.

With a green flag start and no lights at the concrete mile track, NASCAR faced a tight window to reach the halfway mark needed for an official race. They will fire the engines again at noon on Monday with Kyle and Chase starting 1-2. Ryan Blaney is third, Truex is fourth and William Byron is fifth.

As he walked back from the pit road into the garage area, he used his umbrella as a cane. He posed for pictures with members of the Boys and Girls Club.

Over the first 10 Cup races, Truex has two top-five finishes. He won four races last season and would like to win more this season, especially in the midst of contract negotiations. Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick, and Kurt Busch are all currently active drivers with 600 starts, and the 41-year-old Truex is set to join them.

It is a lot of races, but it is cool to be around as long as we have. We have had a lot of tough years, been through a lot of stuff and to still be here is pretty cool.

From his debut in 2004, Truex won only one, at Dover in 2007. He won once with Furniture Row Racing and once with JGR before his career skyrocketed. He won the Cup at Furniture Row and drove for Joe Gibbs.

He has solid Hall of Fame credentials.

I see guys in the Hall of Fame and what they have done, but I don't know. I have not given it much thought.

He had time to think. Fans were asked to seek shelter or return to their vehicles. Chris was bored during the delay and held an AMA. His dream car is a 1979 Ford Bronco, and he was a fan of Mark Martin.

The only career Cup race that Buescher has competed in is on a Monday. Since that checkered, success has been rare for him, but he took the pole at Dover for the first time in more than 200 career Cup races.

It is not something that I have ever had a lot of focus on.

He will have to chase it on Monday.
