Bill Gates says there's 'way above' a 5% risk we haven't seen the worst of the COVID-19 pandemic

Bill Gates thinks there is more than a 5% risk that we haven't seen.

We are still at risk of generating a variant that would be even more transmissive and even more fatal, according to the Microsoft cofounder in an interview with the Financial Times on Sunday.

It is not likely, but it is above a 5% risk that we have not seen the worst of it.

More than 6 million people are thought to have died from carbon dioxide. In a 2015 TED Talk, Gates warned that the world was not ready for a Pandemic.

Gates said that longer- lasting COVID-19 vaccines were needed.

Gates is optimistic that COVID-19 can be the last Pandemic in his upcoming book.

The World Health Organization currently has less than 10 full-time people on the lookout for deadly new viruses, so a task force should be put together to monitor global health emergencies. He said that the epidemic response team could be made up of experts.

In April 2020, Gates criticized Donald Trump for ending US funding for the WHO.

Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said last week that immunity levels from prior COVID-19 infections were probably behind low levels of hospitalization in the US.
