A convoy of 100 evacuees from the Azovstal steel plant in Mariupol are expected to arrive in a Ukrainian city on Monday.

According to the Associated Press, civilians who were holed up inside the Azovstal plant along with the last Ukrainian fighters in the city began to leave over the weekend.

Zelensky said in his daily video address that around 100 of the evacuees are going to arrive in the Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhia on Monday.

Several women and small children were evacuated on Sunday by Ukrainian fighters and Red Cross volunteers.

In a post on Telegram, Ukrainian deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk said that hundreds of civilians were still trapped in the plant and were facing a humanitarian catastrophe as they were running out of water, food and medicine.
