New Balance’s NB1 platform has been opening up a wide spectrum of possible color options on a number of classic silhouettes. The latest model to be added is the 990v5 model.
The 990v5 joins three other customizable models on NB1 – 997, 574 and 300. Complete with a Made In USA label and the American Flag stamped at the tongue, the 990v5 features a distinctive “N” logo at the sides, that’s been enlarged from its preceding v4 model. The ENCAP® midsole cushioning and Ortholite insole have been articulated, while other details like subtle “990” embroidery and “V” motif round out the sneaker. NB1 offers 17 customization points, offering the choice of fabrics like suede, reflective fabric or leather. Color options like white oak, cobalt, clay, shale, violet, agave and peach are included. Manufactured in the US for over 75 years, each pair is made by hand in a factory located in the state of Maine.
Custom New Balance 990v5s from NB1 are currently available on newbalance.com for $200 USD.
