Austin City Limits is just days away and whether it’s your first or seventh time attending, it’s always best to have a game plan. On top of mapping out a schedule of all the artists you want to see, which could take a while considering this year’s stacked lineup, it’s important to be aware of everything else that’s going on at Zilker Park.
As many of you know, the thing with music festivals is that the experience goes way beyond the music. If you want to maximize your time there, you have to see it all. However, when dealing with a monster three-day long musical extravaganza like ACL, sometimes it can be difficult to find a place start. Instead of stressing yourself out before you even make it to the grounds, scroll through some activations below that all attendees definitely shouldn’t miss out on.
From knowing where to go for air-conditioning to noting exactly where the charging stations are, having this information beforehand can make a huge difference in your weekend. Go ahead, study up and get excited for what’s in store.
The best lounge.
Air-conditioning, water refill stations, and complimentary monogramming are only a few festival essentials being offered at ACL’s luxe American Express Experience and Card Member Lounge. The space also has multiple floors with the first level, open to all festival attendees, dedicated to showcasing small businesses in the local community. As soon as festival goers enter, they can shop the Waterloo Records pop-up, grab a fresh juice from Austin-based JuiceLand juice bar, or get an airbrushed tattoo from local artist Michael Williams of Resurrection Tattoo. The best part is, access to the Card Member Lounge is free for all card members and one guest.
That bonus stage.
For those looking for something to do in between performances, the Bonus Tracks Stage will be where it’s at. It will be filled with special guests that can turn into one-on-one conversations, podcast recordings, interactive wellness events, and so much more. Events kick off as early as 12:30PM and continue through 5PM at the latest.
Breeze right in.
Standing in line outside of a music festival in the heat is the worst. Make sure you know what you can and can’t bring into the venue, so that you don’t hold people up. There will also be more lanes and bigger entrances this year, but don’t forget to keep an eye out for the “no bag express lanes,” too.
Where are the phone chargers?
Remember, look for the magenta-themed lounge area behind the T-Mobile stage. The brand has your back with a chill spot to listen to music and charge your phone at the same time. Now that’s a win-win.
There is a place for kids.
You don’t have to leave your little ones behind. ACL is a family-friendly environment and does what it can to make things easy for attendees of all ages. If you have kids, take advantage of the stroller-friendly family lanes and the shaded Austin Kiddie Limits section filled with fun activities for your children. Parents can also register their young ones to the festival and receive an RFID wristband, which will allow them to easily reunite in the event they get split up from one another.
Last, but not least, get something signed.
Yup, a number of your favorite artists will be around for autographs. Whether it’s before or after their set, check out the schedule and don’t forget the opportunity to briefly hang with those you came to ACL to see.
