Travel Outfits For Napa – une femme d’un certain \u00e2ge

One of the things that makes this part of the world a great wine growing region is the climate. Cool-to-cold nights and mornings combined with warm-to-hot days makes for great wine grapes. And it allows me to layer up in the evenings.

Our first evening in Sonoma we had dinner at the Michelin-starred Farmhouse Inn Restaurant (it was fantastic!!). Ambience is “elegant casual” so I dressed up my jeans with a velvet jacket and pearls. The keshi pearl necklace is one-of-a-kind, purchased earlier this year from Kojima Pearl Company. Here’s one with a similar look. (I wished I’d packed a shell with a higher neckline to better show off that necklace.)

It’s been a little warmer over in Napa, so one evening I opted for a linen top and duster.

These pants were my Wild Card pick, and have been a nice alternative to jeans.

This faux suede jacket is surprisingly light, and has been a good choice for air-conditioned interiors. I’m not crazy about the length of the top here, next time would go with a shorter one.

I wore these mules most evenings, a bit dressier than sneakers but still comfortable.

“Going out clothes” are one of the perennial gaps in my wardrobe. Even though I can cobble together outfits from my basics, I’d love to have just a few pieces that feel a bit more special, and will be on the lookout for those as I continue to revamp my wardrobe.

We’re still quite some distance from the Sonoma fire, but it’s understandably nerve-wracking for everyone who lives here. We can see the smoke in the distance (and smell it, as of yesterday). I’m keeping the residents and firefighters in my thoughts, and hoping the weather changes soon to help them battle the blazes. We’re hoping the Southern California fires get controlled quickly too, and that everyone stays safe.
