Sarah Jessica Parker selling SJP shoes in Houston for a cause close to her heart

HOUSTON – SJP is in H-Town and fans are lining up for a chance to buy her shoes and help raise money for MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Sarah Jessica Parker thrilled fans when she showed up at the Bayou City Event Center Tuesday morning to meet some of the lucky women who are buying her shoes.

“I’m a cancer survivor so it means a lot to me,” Nancy Olivares said. “And I love Sarah Jessica Parker. She’s one of my shoe idols.”

And when it’s for a good cause, it’s a good excuse to splurge. Olivares bought five pairs.

“It’s her birthday month, so she gets anything she wants,” her husband said.

SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker shoes normally sell for hundreds of dollars. But the samples being sold Tuesday at the Bayou City Event Center are $80 to $200.

“So, I follow Sarah Jessica Parker on Instagram. I always see her shoes on there and they’re really expensive, so I decided to skip work today at this shoe sale,” Felisa Bernado said.

Bernado had a pile of shoes to pick from.

“I’m really excited. I’m going to get 3 pairs,” she said. “It’s really hard to decide.”

Lauren Bracken had the same problem. She was only going to buy one pair, but left with five.

From blingy stilettos to comfy but cute flats to sexy boots, they come in all sizes and colors.

All proceeds will go toward prostate cancer research at MD Anderson Cancer Center.

According to Houstonia Magazine, the cause is close to Parker’s heart because friend and business associate Tony Yurgaitis was treated for prostate cancer at MD Anderson.

“We’ve seen how wonderful it’s been. Life-changing,” Parker told Houstonia.

If you want to own a pair, leave the stilettos at home, put on your sneaks and run, don’t walk to the event center. The sale runs until 7 p.m. or until 5,000 pairs of shoes are gone.
