Tamara Mellon

Luxury brands typically only cater to one type of customer when it comes to fashion, but Tamara Mellon has disrupted the luxury space again as it becomes the first luxury brand to offer extended calf sizes. Tamara Mellon is a next-generation luxury women's footwear brand. The brand is breaking all the traditional rules of fashion, eliminating the 6x retail markup by going direct-to-consumer, and ignoring the fashion calendar with weekly product drops. Tamara Mellon shoes are made in the best Italian factories, and the brand offers a complimentary cobbler service for two years after purchase as part of a commitment to reimagine luxury service. As an outspoken advocate of women's issues, Tamara Mellon is creating a community of like-minded, next-generation luxury consumers. The brand recently raised its $50 million Series C earlier this year to continue to support innovation such as the extended calf sizing.

When Tamara Mellon launched the Icon boot in 2017, it quickly became a bestseller. As its popularity grew, the brand started getting messages from women who said it didn't fit their calves. So, they began researching and interviewing their customers to see how they could make a better Icon boot. Last year Tamara Mellon began designing a new Icon boot that would work for more women. The design process included focusing on developing the Icon boot in three different calf sizes. You can now order the Icon boot in a small, medium, or large calf width- in any shoe size. Tamara Mellon knows that the extended calf sizing may not accommodate everyone, but strongly feel it's a step in the right direction.

"We're always looking for new ways to serve our customers and part of that is listening to feedback, especially when it comes to fit. We kept hearing, 'I really want to buy your boots, but my calf doesn't fit', and decided to solve for that problem. Over the span of 8 months, we measured the calves of our employees, VIP customers and friends of the brand to create our small, medium and large fits. By no means do we think these will accommodate everyone, but it's a step in the right direction," says Mellon.

To celebrate the launch, Tamara Mellon featured three women they admire, Alessandra Garcia Lorido, Matisse and Adepero Oduye, in the campaign. "These women embody the updated meaning of an icon- someone who allows a greater variety of women to feel represented. These Are The New Icons!" exclaimed Mellon.
