Jack Dorsey is no longer the CEO of Block. He no longer has the title.
In a filing with the SEC on Friday, the company formerly known as Square said that it has changed its name to Block Head. The requirement for the company to have an officer holding the titles of CEO and president has been removed by Block.
It's another way that Dorsey is intersecting with Musk, who is trying to buy the company that he co-founded and used to run. Although he still continues as CEO, Musk took on the title of "Technoking ofTesla" last year. Musk said his position was a made-up title.
In 2012 he made the same comments when he said "Titles, like CEO, get in the way of doing the right thing." The people who fight like hell for what is right are respected.
Block said it changed the title at his request. A stupid person is defined as the word blockhead in the online dictionary.
Square was founded in 2009. The company has mostly focused on payments, but recently moved into the market of cryptocurrencies through its Cash App. In changing its name to Block in December, the company said it had become synonymous with its seller business for selling goods, and that the new name created room for further growth.
