In an emergency situation, your phone, camera, calculator, music player, gps device, and casual gaming device are all things that could help save your life. The phone's emergency call feature will dial emergency services in your area and alert emergency contacts about your location.

Apple iPhone Emergency SOS functionality

The local emergency number will be called by the Emergency SOS function on the iPhone.

In the United States, your phone will dial emergency services. It will call in the United Kingdom.

How to use iPhone Emergency SOS on on iPhone 7 or earlier 

Press the side or top button five times. You can see the Emergency SOS bar on your phone. You can call emergency services by dragging the Emergency SOS button.

How to use iPhone Emergency SOS on on iPhone 8 or later 

You need to hold the side button and one of the volume buttons until the Emergency SOS button appears if you have an iPhone 8 or later. Just drag the Emergency SOS button to call the emergency services.

If you hold down the side button and volume button, you will not be able to drag the slider.

If you hold down the buttons until the end, your phone will call emergency services.

iPhone Emergency SOS contacts alerts 

If you use Emergency SOS, your phone will send a text message to your emergency contacts when your call to the emergency services has ended.

Even if your location services are turned off, this still works. Contacts will get an update if your location changes.

How to add and edit iPhone Emergency SOS contacts 

The Health app can be used to add and edit Emergency SOS contacts. You will see your profile icon at the top right of your screen when you open the app.

On the next page, tap on the Medical ID.

If you haven't entered any info yet, or if you have already entered some, you need to tap Get Started.

Go to the Emergency Contacts section. The green plus icon can be used to add an emergency contact.

This opens the Contacts on your phone. When you tap the contact you want to add, you will be prompted to add what their relationship to you is from a long list.

To save your changes, tap Done.

How to edit and delete iPhone Emergency SOS contacts 

If you want to add, edit, or remove your emergency contacts, follow the process above, and then click on the button at the top right of your screen.
