TV Reporter Climbs All Over Classic Cars on Live Camera, Gets Fired

Some things you just can't explain: how Stonehenge came to be, what happened to Atlantis, and now, why a reporter for a local news station in California would sprawl on top of show cars live on air. But that's what Angel Cardenas of KMAX-TV-or, should we say, formerly of KMAX-TV, did, and it's all on video:

While promoting the Sacramento International Auto Show on the local program Good Morning Sacramento, Cardenas hopped up onto the trunk of a classic yellow Ford Thunderbird before opening the door of a pink Thunderbird into an adjacent car-all on air-and the reason is lost on us.

The Sacramento show that features both the old and new, which is why Cardenas was able to make himself at home in and on cars of various ages.

"I feel like a kid in a candy store without the owners because you can do anything," Cardenas says during the segment, which ends with Cardenas ducking under the guardrail-intended to keep admirers a few feet back from the 2020 Ford Explorer-and subsequently jumping up onto the hood.

The segment aired this past Sunday, and by Monday morning Cardenas was looking for a new job.
