Deactivate your Facebook account rather than deleting it for a less drastic version of stepping away.

There are other options if you need to take a break from Facebook. The settings section of the social media platform has a button that you can use to uninstall or de-activate your account.

You can hide your account from anyone who tries to view it. All your data will be preserved if you log back in. Saving your personal information like photos and status updates before deletion of your account is important since it will be erased.

How to temporarily deactivate a Facebook account 

1. Click the down arrow at the top of the screen on Facebook. 2. Click settings and privacy.

3. You can go to the Your Facebook Information tab. 4. Click the button to deactivating or deletion.

5. Click the circle next to Deactivate account to continue account deactivation. To confirm deactivation, follow the on-screen instructions.

If you deactivating your account, you will not be able to access your photos, videos, friends, and groups, and no one will be able to see your timeline.

You can reactivate your account by logging back into Facebook. You can log back into Facebook using your previous email address or mobile number.

How to delete a Facebook account 

1. Click the down arrow at the top of the screen on Facebook.

2. Click settings and privacy.

3. Click the Deactivation and deletion option on the Your Facebook Information tab.

4. Click the circle next to the account you want to remove.
