Roblox is hiring a PlayStation engineer

According to the company, nearly 50 million users play the game every day, and that's because it's free and available on many different platforms. There is a job listing for a Senior Software Engineer for the PS4 on Roblox, but that could change soon.

As a gaming console software engineer, you will help build and support our game engine used by millions of users worldwide for the Sony PlayStation platform, and other leading gaming consoles on the market. One of the responsibilities of the job is to develop and support the Roblox client application for gaming consoles like Microsoft Xbox One and Sony PS4.

It's not clear if or when it will be available on Sony's platform. Roblox is open to expanding to new platforms before. David Baszucki, CEO of Roblox, said on an earnings call in May of 2021 that Nintendo Switch, PSone, and Meta's Quest made perfect sense for Roblox.

It's likely that Roblox knows how much of a cash cow it is. According to court documents released ahead of the Apple trial, the PS4 generated almost half of the total revenue from March to July 2020. It's possible that Roblox won't leave a similar opportunity on the table.

Roblox didn't want to comment.
