You have two names on the ephemeral messaging service. Your account is only visible on your profile, and your name is what friends and family will use to find it. Your display name is what shows up above your snaps, stories, and feeds.

You needed to make a new account to change your display name. A recent update allows you to change your name once a year.

You can change your usernames and display your name on the app on your phone.

How to change your Snapchat username

Once you change your name, you need to wait a full year to change it again. Your old name is locked so no one else can use it after you change it.

1. In the top- left corner of the screen, you can find your profile icon.

2. The gear icon can be found in the top-right corner of your profile. The settings page will be opened by this.

3. Press Continue to confirm that you know the restrictions after you tap the Username option.

4. tap Next to enter your new name. It has to be unique. If you want to back out without changing, tap the arrow in the top- left.

5. tap confirm to enter your password.

You have a new name. You can see what it looks like by checking out your profile.

How to change your Snapchat display name

This is the name that appears at the top of your profile. You can change your display name whenever you please.

1. You can open the app by tapping your profile icon in the top left and gear icon in the top right.

2. The name option is available.

3. You need to type in your new name before you save it.
