Some apps try to make it difficult to cancel your account in order to make it more difficult for people to keep their subscription. Thankfully, the app that is one of these is not Netflix.

It should take a few minutes to cancel a account. You have to remember how you signed up for the service in the first place.

If you made your account, you can cancel it in three ways. Try them out in order if you are not sure which one applies to you.

If none of these methods work, you should contact the support of the company to see who is managing your subscription.

How to cancel your Netflix subscription if you signed up directly

If you created your account through the website or smart TV, this is the method you will want to use.

1. You can open any web browser to go to the website. If you haven't already, log into your account.

2. Click the downward-pointing arrow in the top-right corner of the page to register.

3. Under Membership and Billing, click Cancel Membership and confirm your decision to do so.

4. If you want to end your DVD plan as well, click Cancel and confirm.

You signed up for the service through a third-party, if you don't see the option to cancel your account here. You should be able to see who is running your account.

How to cancel your Netflix subscription on an iPhone or iPad

It's possible that your account is linked to your Apple ID if you signed up for the service through the app. You will need to cancel through the Apple ID menu.

1. You can open the settings app on your phone or iPad and use your name at the top of the page.

2. You can tap Subscriptions in the Apple ID menu.

3. You can choose to Cancel Subscription from the list that appears. You should confirm your choice.

How to cancel your Netflix subscription on an Android

If you signed up for the service through the app, it is likely linked to your account. You will need to cancel through the Play Store app.

1. You can open the Play Store app on your phone by touching your profile icon in the top-right corner.

2. Payments and subscriptions can be found in the menu that opens.

3. You can choose to Cancel Subscription from your list of subscriptions. You should confirm your choice.
