Are you sure that your Xbox One console won't turn on? Well, that is all. Throw it away and get a book.

Either way, you can get the system to work again.

Make sure your Xbox One controller is working

If you have used the controller before, you might want to rule out any issues with the peripheral.

1. If the power button is pressed, the console will turn on. The controller might not be working if the console turns on like normal.

3. Plug the controller into the Xbox and try pressing the button again to see if it works.

4. Try a different controller if the above steps don't work. If another controller is able to switch on the Xbox One, you should replace the previous controller.

Vent your Xbox One

If you are playing a game and the game shuts down randomly, it may have overheated.

1. Remove any objects that may be blocking the vents. The console's internal air flow can be disrupted by obstructions. The console will shut down to prevent the heat from damaging internal components because the hot air won't escape.

2. Leave it for a while so it can cool off. You should make sure that it is placed in an area that is getting plenty of air.

3. If the console has cooled, press the Power button and see if it comes back on.

Check your Xbox One's HDMI cable

If you notice that the screen on your Xbox One is not showing anything, it could be that the cable is broken.

1. Check to see if you have connected the HDMI cable to the TV. Try to switch the HDMI ports on the TV.

2. Try using another HDMI cable to see if the display shows up.

Check your Xbox One's power supply

An issue with the power supply is what causes an unresponsive Xbox One.

1. Make sure the power cable is firmly inserted in the back of the console and that the plug is connected to an AC wall outlet.

2. If everything is in order, you can check the outlet by connecting a different electrical device to it and see if it works.

Do a power reset on your Xbox One

The internal power supply of the system might be at issue once it becomes clear that the problem is the Xbox One.

The external power supply for the Xbox One X and S consoles needs to be reset.

1. To reset the power on the console, you need to remove the power cable from the rear of the console. Press the Xbox button on the front of the system to connect the cable.

2. You are all set if it turns on.
