HBO Max Makes Major Editing Error in 'Harry Potter' Reunion Special

On New Year's Day, the special, Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwwarts, arrived via HBO Max, bringing fans of the series back into the world of wizardry with special interviews and commentary from the original cast.

Fans were delighted by Emma's recollection of her time playing Hermione in the eight feature-film installments adapted from J.K. Rowling's novels. During one scene, fans noticed a mistake in one of the photos that was shown of her.

A picture of a young girl in mickey mouse ears eating at a table was actually a picture of Emma Roberts, who had posted it on social media nearly a decade ago. The original post by Roberts has since received more than 18,000 likes, thanks to a lot of comments from eagle-eyed viewers.

One user joked that Emma went to Hogwarts before she joined the Academy for Young Ladies in American Horror Story.

One person said to read about the mix up. How did hbo not fact check it? It's crazy!

The updated version of the special is available for streaming in four parts.

Well spotted, Harry Potter fans! The producers of the show told The Hollywood Reporter that the mistake of a mislabeled photograph was brought to their attention.

Return to Hogwarts is only available on HBO Max.
