Sony reveals electric SUV prototype as it tests EV market

The electric concept car was a surprise for the attendees at the show.

The Vision-S SUV prototype is a follow-up to a concept car that the company unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in 2020.

According to a statement, Sony plans to look into whether it can enter the EV market through a new operating company, Sony Mobility. Several automakers are expanding into electric SUVs and trucks as more consumers purchase electric cars.

The company boasted that its prototype provided "immersive" audio, gaming, and a panoramic screen up front, as well as rear-seat displays.

According to the statement, Sony has its eyes on self-driving cars. The Vision-S had 33 sensors, while the SUV had 40. The assisted driving features in new EV are very popular. Super Cruise is a hands-free driving system in the Chevrolet Bolt EUV, while Full Self Driving is a feature in theTesla Model S.

The Vision-S and its SUV build are just prototypes for now, but several EV concept cars have come to market over the years. The BMW iX and Cadillac Lyriq were concept cars.
