The hit for Image Comics has been Kyle and Marcelo Costa's Radiant Black. The Power Rangers-inspired superhero comic has already had a spin-off ofRogue Sun, and a crossover event with Mat Groom andErica D'Urso's Kamen Rider. We have an exclusive preview of the new hero that is going to be added to the mix when the Radiant Red miniseries arrives in March.
If you're new to the series or need a primer on the character, you should know that Radiant Red was the foe of Nathan Burnett after he put on the super-suit that transformed him into Radiant Black, beating the hero so badly he had to pass the suit to his friend Marshall In the sixth issue of the series, it was revealed that Satomi Sone was the woman who was robbing banks to keep her family afloat. She has begun walking on the path towards her own kind of heroism since then, but that is not the location that Radiant Red #1 is going to find her at first. Satomi Sone is a good middle school teacher. She is the matriarch of the family. To the world, she is a criminal turned superhero. She will have to decide who she is before the world chooses for her, because of a mysterious stranger in her classroom, a nosy reporter on her doorstep, and $2.5 million hidden in the air vent of her house.
The last time we saw Satomi, she and Marshall had finally buried the hatchet, but that doesn't mean all her problems have gone away. As her life gets more and more complicated, we are delighted to have Cherish, David, and Miquel back together to continue what we started in Radiant Black.
The chance to tell the story of Satomi's corner of the world with master storytellers like David and Miquel is a total dream come true. I hope fans enjoy the journey we are going on with Satomi.
