Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Review: Why Is This Property So Divisive?

I stayed at the Hyatt Regency for a weekend and took advantage of the unlimited golf package. This property seems to be either loved or hated. The Hyatt category 4 certificate is one of the better options in the US because of the high cash prices in the summer. It is reachable from the Washington and Baltimore areas, but it is not easy to get to. I will discuss my stay, room, property, amenities, cost, and overall thoughts in my Hyatt Regency review.

Booking is done.

The Hyatt Regency is a category 4 Hyatt hotel. The point cost per night can be 12,000 if it is non peak, 15,000 if it is standard and 18,000 if it is peak. I paid $379 for a room and unlimited golf for 2, but we were able to get 36 holes in. I used a free night certificate for the first night of the weekend.

There is a location.

I had to rent a car to get from Baltimore to the Hyatt Regency. I rented a car at an off site location because they were completely booked up that weekend. I got the last car. The person in line behind me was turned away because they didn't have expectations yet.

I decided to stop in Annapolis for lunch on the way to the Maryland Shore. The BWI airport is about a half hour away from Annapolis. It's a good idea to pick out a parking garage before you drive because there can be a lot of chaos down there. It was packed for a Friday afternoon, but it was a football weekend, and UCF was in town for the game. I can't wait to go back.

Check in at the Lobby.

The Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay has a nice lobby with nice views of the water. I think this is a problem during the peak summer season with a long line to check in.

Depending on how busy the site is, you could walk after parking. The parking was $10 a night but it isn't in a city so should have never been charged.

The Hyatt Regency is in the bay.

The Hyatt Regency hotel room was reviewed.

I was upgraded to a suite with my Globalist status, but the room set up was a bit strange. It was a long room with a TV that was at an angle from the beds. I would have appreciated the desk if I were working there.

The room was showing its age. I can see why someone would be upset by this. I can overlook the fact that the bathroom is in need of remodeling. The grounds are amazing and you should visit them.

Public places.

The Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay is a great place to stay. Blue Pointe Provision Company was closed for the year because of covid.

The beach area is small, but it is beautiful and the outdoor areas are the gem of the hotel. The water is bad for swimming and better to relax by or look at. I like to see bridge views.

The golf course has a golf course.

I enjoyed playing the golf course. I rented clubs to make it easier. I would probably do that again because they were Callaway clubs. The course was challenging but not very hard. I would play it again in a heartbeat if there were more water views. You can still sit on the hill and look at the beauty of hole 18 if you are not a golfer. They have a Hyatt Regency branded beer. It comes from a local brewery.

The lounge area of the golf course was not good. The food was not very good and the service was poor.

Breakfast review by Hyatt Regency.

I apologize that I can't comment on this for you. We had a very early tee time and I left for the airport very early the next day. I didn't eat breakfast either day because I have Globalist status.

The area is local.

The second night we ate at Ava's Pizzeria, it was really good and worth checking out for pizza lovers.

If you love seafood and oysters, you should go to Suicide Bridge Restaurant.

The Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay review is over.

I don't understand why this property is so divisive. The rooms are old but for 15,000 points a night or a free night cert, it doesn't bother me. I could see being upset if I were paying $600-$700 a night in the summer. The common areas are the real gem of this place.

The pools are awesome and the views are great. You can stay entertained at the resort for the entire weekend. Blue Ruin is a great place to finish off each night with live music, and is just minutes away from downtown.

I will be going back with the family this summer. It was a great way to burn off my last two free night certificates. You don't need to know if I liked it or not.
