Father charged in shooting death of former UCF Knights RB Otis Anderson Jr.

Otis Anderson Jr. was shot and killed at his parents' home in Jacksonville, Florida, on Monday evening, and his father has been charged in his death, shocking former teammates, coaches and those who knew him best in his Central and North Florida communities.

According to an arrest report released by the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, Otis Anderson Jr.'s mother told police that he and his father got into an argument and that she was involved. Anderson Jr. met Anderson Jr. in the kitchen after Anderson Sr. returned from the garage.

Anderson Jr. was found with a gunshot wound to the chest. He died at the hospital. The woman was hospitalized with wounds but later discharged.

He was charged with murder and attempted murder. He appeared in front of a judge who found probable cause. Anderson was being held without bond and had a public defender. His next court appearance is in December.

Otis Anderson Jr. played at UCF from the year of 2017: rushing for 2,182 yards and 17 touchdown, while catching 91 passes for 1,025 yards and nine touchdown.

Anderson Jr., a running back and receiver, played at the University of Central Florida from 17 to 20. He was affectionately known as "Juice" because of his initials, and he was also known for his uplifting smile and personality.

The tributes were posted on social media. Anderson's jersey and flowers were placed on the football field by the University of Central Florida.

Josh Heupel, Otis Anderson Jr.'s former coach, posted a statement on the internet, saying he was sad and stunned by the passing of the man. He was a great teammate. My deepest sympathies go out to the entire UCF family.
