Jonathan Morgan: Leicester City manager leaves position with club bottom of WSL

Jonathan Morgan was in charge of the WSL for a while.

Jonathan Morgan left his position as manager of the city after seven years.

The club won the Championship title last season and he was in charge of getting them into the Women's Super League.

After eight games, the WSL's bottom team has not picked up a single point.

Morgan was named LMA Championship Manager of the Year after his team's success last season.

"This club has been a part of my life since my sister Holly joined as a young player 12 years ago," said Morgan.

It gives me pride to have takenLeicester from the Division 1 to the WSL. Injuries contributed to a difficult start, but we haven't achieved the results we had hoped for.

The club captain, Holly Morgan, and assistant manager Michael Makoni have left their positions.

Emile Heskey, the head of women's football development at the club, will be in charge of first-team training for the League Cup game against Manchester United.

The club is taking the process of appointing a new manager.

The club's vision for the long-term development of women's football in the city is dependent on the club retaining its WSL status.

The club feels a change in leadership is necessary to give the team the best chance of achieving this in the remaining months of the season.
