Army's cadets nab wrong goat in effort to kidnap Navy's mascot

Cadets at West Point tried to grab the mascot of the U.S. Naval Academy, but ended up grabbing a different goat.

Cadets from the U.S. Military Academy traveled to a farm in Maryland that is home to a Navy mascot named Bill, who is a goat mascot. Cadets chased the goats. They got Bill No. 34 instead of grabbing Bill No. 37.

The animal was returned safely and West Point officials were investigating those responsible.

The U.S. Military Academy and the U.S. Naval Academy are disappointed by the break in trust between our brothers and sisters. These actions do not reflect either academy's core values of dignity and respect.

Nabbing mascots is a tradition at the service academy and is often viewed as a prank. It has been off-limits since the early 1990s.

The Air Force Academy's falcon was injured during a prank and West Point apologized.

The Army-Navy game is on December 11.
