The school's single-game passing record had stood for more than half a century, but on Saturday, Alabama quarterback Bryce Young broke it.

Young set the record when he connected with Bolden for a 27 yard reception early in the fourth quarter. Scott Hunter threw for 484 yards in 1969 against auburn.

Young's 559 yards are the second-most in SEC history, behind Mississippi State's K.J. Costello, who threw for 622 yards against LSU in 2020.

Young finished with five touchdown and no turnovers. He scored two times as the Tide won.

"He made good decisions about who to throw the ball to, and I mean, he had at least four drops and he had a couple overthrows," Alabama coach Nick Saban said. The guy had a great game. He took what they gave him.

Young threw three touchdown passes to Jameson Williams. The two connected for two more scores. Williams had eight catches for 190 yards.

Alabama will play Georgia in the SEC championship game.

The players were able to bounce back against a tough schedule.

It has been difficult to play in the West. He said that this year was difficult. We won some close games. The players' resilience contributes to the close game we won today. Their competitive spirit and how much it means to them contributes to that. We need to fix some of the things that we are not getting right.

Young, a sophomore in his first season as a starter, has thrown for 3,586 yards, 38 touchdown and three interceptions.
