Google is working on a more user-friendly way to find files in Drive

Google will beta test new search filters for Google Drive. This will make it easier to locate the file you are looking for. The feature, called search chips, adds a line to the Drive interface that allows you to limit your search by file type, last modified date or other users associated with a particular file.
Google Drive already offers search filtering options. However, they are limited and hidden in a submenu of the search bar. The new search chips, however, are more prominently displayed and offer more filtering options. Similar features were introduced in Gmail earlier this year.

Google has created a sign-up form for those who want to test the new Drive search chip beta. All Google Workspace users will soon have access to search chips, including G Suite Basic or Business customers.
