Waze and Google Maps make it easy to find a cheaper route to your destination.
According to AAA, the U.S. average price for a gallon is $3.40. In places like Hawaii, California and Pennsylvania, it is more than $3.50.
GasBuddy is one of the gas tracking apps, but you will need to search for it separately on your phone. It's easier to find cheap gas in your area if you already use Waze or Google Maps. Both apps include gas prices.
Waze allows you to search for gas stations near or along your route. You can view the prices, which have been crowdsourced from other drivers on Waze so that you can determine which stops are the most affordable to fill up.
The Waze app will display the gas station option below the search bar.
You can click on the gas pump icon to see all stations. It is possible to filter the list by price, distance, and brand. You can filter it by price to find the lowest fill-up. Click the gear icon at the top of the list of gas stations.
Once you have found the station that you desire, click on it to go your navigation directions.

You can search for gas stations along your route on the Google Maps app when you are in drive mode. It will show you the prices of all stations nearby and how far you need to detour.
Click on Search and select the Gas Stations option. All nearby stations will appear along your route.
You can search the main search bar to find nearby gas stations if you are not driving. However, prices won't appear unless you are in driving mode.

Apple Maps shows gas stations near you, but doesn't show the price per gallon as clearly as Waze or Google Maps.
Clicking on the search button will bring up suggestions for nearby items such as hotels, restaurants, gas stations, and COVID-19 vaccines.

However, pricing information will be available at the gas station.
