Nuno Espirito Santo: 'I wish all the players were equally committed'

Nuno Espirito Santato has won five of the nine Premier League games he managed for Tottenham

Nuno Espirito Santato, Tottenham Hotspur manager, says that some players "have to go beyond" to get into his plans.

Santo was asked questions about the squad's midweek Carabao Cup win at Burnley.

Harry Winks and Dele Alli were also left out of the selection, as they had not been selected in recent weeks.

Santo stated, "At the end the day what we want it to be is for all the players to get involved and committed."

He said, "This word is very significant. It is important to be committed. Commitment is key to understanding any type of decision.

"You're more patient and do what you need to do. You must remain focused on your task day after day.

25-year-old Alli has not been in the Premier League since being injured at half-time during Spurs' loss at Arsenal on 27/09/09. Winks has only played six games in all competitions.

Santo stated that he wished all players were equally dedicated. It would be absurd to say that this is the reality. Each player has their own expectations.

These players must go above and beyond. They must make an effort to be more than the manager's idea.

This is how it works. This is the right thing for a player in this industry. It's not always possible.

Tottenham hosts Manchester United on Saturday. Manchester United are yet to win in four Premier League matches.
